WHY ARE THERE SO MANY CHURCHES?

There is one Bible, yet there are many different Christian churches, all claiming to follow its teaching. Are they all correct in their interpretation of the Bible?

THE BIBLE IS GOD’S WORD

Many people today think that the Bible is just one of many other religious books, and that it has very little significance in the world today.

But only the Bible reveals that there is a God who has a plan for the earth and all the nations on it, a plan which has spanned thousands of years and is slowly nearing fulfilment.

THE TRUTH ABOUT GOD

The Bible gives very clear details about God, His character, His nature and His purpose. A knowledge of the truth about God is vital if we wish to correctly understand Bible teaching.

WHAT IS TRUE BAPTISM?

Many people today believe that they have been baptised because they were christened as a baby. But true baptism (as it is defined and described in the Bible) involves belief followed by a complete immersion in water.

CHRISTIAN HOPE AND THE PROMISES TO ABRAHAM

Most people who claim to be Christian today look for a reward in heaven. But the Bible plainly teaches that reward will be found in earth in a world-wide Kingdom which will be established at the return of Jesus Christ.

The promises God made to Abraham contain this important message. These promises are central to the Gospel which Jesus and his apostles preached and are referred to many times in the New Testament.

THE TRUTH ABOUT IMMORTAL SOULS

Most who claim to be Christian would be surprised to hear that the Bible does not teach that man has an immortal soul.

This belief (which originated in paganism) was introduced into the early Christian church by those who adopted the thinking of the Greek philosopher Plato and his doctrine of the inherent immortality of the soul.

THE TRUTH ABOUT HELL

For hundreds of years, professing Christians have believed that the souls of the wicked will suffer for eternity in the fires of hell somewhere below the earth.

This idea is not found in the Bible, but has its origins in pagan teaching.

THE TRUTH ABOUT THE DEVIL

Many who claim to follow Christianity may be surprised to know that the Bible does not teach there is a supernatural devil or satan who opposes God and tempts men and women to sin. This idea is of pagan origin and was introduced into the early church.
